About Us
MaineGroceryDelivery.Com was founded in the summer of 2010 by Ami DeRienzo. Ami grew up in Gorham, Maine as one of seven children. For a number of years, she served breakfast at the iconic 14 Main Restaurant that once stood proud on Main Street in Gorham before being replaced by a bank. In the years that followed, she worked for the American Journal in Westbrook as well as other small local businesses before finally landing a career with Shaw’s Supermarkets. After working for Shaw’s for almost 20 years and serving as a member of the store management team, Ami saw a need in the community that was not being filled by traditional brick and mortar grocery stores. During this same time period, thousands of individuals in the grocery industry were losing their jobs due to the uncertain economic times, the shift in consumer shopping behaviors, and corporate mergers. Knowing the need within the community coupled with her passion and desire to create jobs for displaced workers, Ami started Southern Maine’s only full service online grocery store with delivery service.
MaineGroceryDelivery.Com currently delivers groceries to thirteen towns in Southern Maine, providing a critical service for the elderly, disabled, and housebound. Our customer base also includes busy families with young children, local business owners, and other individuals from working professionals to those recouping from injury or experiencing car troubles. In the summer months, vacationers order their groceries online and MGD delivers them directly to their rental properties and summer homes. Despite her desire to create jobs, Ami currently operates MGD as a one person business with the hope of expansion and job creation down the road.
Over the years, Ami has personally shopped for and delivered thousands of grocery orders. Each order is handled with care and every effort is made to ensure that products are of the highest quality. Ami frequently shops at least two to three different grocery stores per order to make sure products are in stock and the best quality available. Her dream is to eventually be able to expand throughout the entire state of Maine, providing critical services for the elderly and disabled as well as to create jobs for displaced workers.
